Haryana govt to start 4th batch of CMGGA programme

Chandigarh, May 26 (UNI) In view of the huge success of the Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates (CMGGA) Programme in last three years, Haryana Government is all set to kick-start the fourth batch of the programme from July 21.
While stating this here on Sunday, the Project Director of Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates Programme, Dr. Rakesh Gupta said that this ambitious fellowship programme launched four years back in 2016, involves youth as change makers in ensuring Good Governance and provides a platform to the young talent across the country towards creating social impact by working directly with district administration and Chief Minister’s Office.
Dr. Gupta said that the intense process of selection of 25 Associates would start from June 1, 2019 inviting online applications. After the completion of the selection process, the batch would start working in tandem with the Chief Minister’s office and district Administration from July 21, 2019.
He said that the selected candidates would be placed across 22 districts and would assist in implementing innovative approaches, ensuring transparency, efficiency and accountability of the government initiatives. The associates spent 6 to 7 weeks in districts followed by a week-long forum at Ashoka University, the knowledge partner of the programme, to discuss challenges and way forward across work modules.
Interested candidates can apply to join the team and get an impressive exposure to the government functioning and policy making. The programme offers a competitive stipend of Rs 50,000 to the associates and accommodation in their respective districts. More information regarding the process of selection, important dates and the overall recruitment process are available on the official CMGGA website at www.cmgga.in.
Youth from across the country can learn more about the importance of good governance by working closely with the system, driving policy changes and creating mass impact for the citizens across various domains including education, health, transport and roadways, cleanliness, gender issues, citizen service delivery and infrastructural improvements.
He said that a total of 80 associates from the last three years have worked on multiple programmes over the last three years and achieved impressive achievements. They ensured smooth implementation of the flagship programme of the state. Many of them are now working with UN organizations, national and international NGOs, government think tanks such as Niti Aayog and consultancy firms as well, while some have gone to venture the entrepreneurship journey.
He said that Haryana Government has been successful in ensuring good governance in the state by adopting various new strategies, which has received overwhelming response from all corners. It is the vision of the Chief Minister, Mr. Manhohar Lal to involve and leverage youth, their energy and fresh innovation in ensuring good governance. These timely updates, gap areas and suggestions are directly reported to the Chief Minister every three months by the CMGGAs.
Elaborating on these programmes, he said Haryana is the first state in the country to digitize over 480 services across 35 departments on a single online platform called Antyodaya Saral. In addition to the option of online application for availing these services, a total of 115 Antyodaya Saral Centers have been established and made functional in December 2018. Over 14 lakh citizens have availed services through this platform since its inception.
He said that Haryana is also the first in the country to make systematic reforms in education and improving learning level outcomes of students through Saksham Haryana. The programme has helped to improve the grade level competency of students in Hindi and Mathematics. Based on an assessment carried out by a third party, a total of 94 educational blocks out of 119 in the state have been declared Saksham, making 80 percent students in government schools 80 percent grade level competent. The initiative is now moving in its second wave of attaining Saksham Plus levels, thereby improving competency of students in English.
As part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign, Associates have worked on improving conviction rate of cases being registered under POCOS Act. Gender sensitization programme such as Jaagriti has been initiated to break gender norms and empower women of the state. Jaagriti has grown over the years and received tremendous support with UNICEF being the technical partner, implemented by MAMTA HIMC and funded by Relaxo foundation.
