Haryana floods: Karnal family airlifted

Chandigarh, Aug 19 (UNI) Mustakin and his eight family members in Gadhpur Tapu village of Karnal district had a narrow escape from floods as following Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s intervention, they were airlifted with the help of a helicopter.
Mustakin along with his family members had gone to fields on the other side of the river Yamuna on Sunday night when they got stranded due to increasing water level in the river.
When the matter came into the notice of Mr Khattar, directed Karnal Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh for taking immediate necessary action. As it was not possible to carry out the rescue operation with the help of boat due to strong water flow in the river and low visibility during night, Air Force Station Sarsava, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh was contacted with the help of Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, Joint Secretary, Disaster Management Division, Ministry of Home Affairs and they were evacuated safely.
