Chandigarh, Dec 10 (UNI) BJP candidate and former chairperson of the National Commission for Women Rekha Sharma on Tuesday filed her nomination for the Rajya Sabha (RS) by-election from Haryana.
Sharma submitted her nomination papers in the Haryana Assembly to the Returning Officer, Ashok Kumar Meena. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, state BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli, MLAs and other paarty leaders were present on the occasion.
The RS seat became vacant after Krishan Lal Panwar resigned from the Upper House on his election as an MLA in the recent state Assembly poll.
Congratulating Sharma, the chief minister described her as a senior BJP leader who has been working
at the grassroots level to strengthen the party for a long time. He expressed confidence that Sharma would effectively represent Haryana in the Rajya Sabha, benefitting the state significantly. UNI GS SSP
