Haryana bags Nari Shakti Puraskar for improving sex ratio in 2015

Chandigarh, Mar 8 (UNI) Haryana has bagged the prestigious Nari Shakti Puraskar-2015 (Kannagi Devi Award) for its significant achievement in improving sex ratio in the year 2015.
The award was presented by President Pranab Mukherjee on the occasion of International Women’s Day in New Delhi today. It was received by Chief Secretary D S Dhesi, on behalf of Haryana government.
After the launch of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Programme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Panipat on January 22, 2015, the state government had taken a number of steps for the welfare of girls and women.
