Haryana ASI's family refuses cremation, demands FIR

Chandigarh, Oct 15 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Rohtak's Ladhaut village today after the family of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Lathar refused to conduct the post-mortem and perform his last rites, demanding that a case be registered first.
The ASI had allegedly died by suicide yesterday, accusing senior IPS officer Y. Poonam Kumar of corruption in a video statement and a four-page note left behind. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with Cabinet ministers Krishan Lal Panwar and Mahipal Dhanda, met the grieving family and expressed condolences. INLD leader Sunaina Chautala also visited the family and demanded a fair judicial probe into the incident.
According to police, Sandeep Lathar shot himself with his service revolver on the terrace of his maternal uncle's house near Dhamad Road. His body was later recovered and taken for post-mortem, which the family has since refused.
