Hajipur still tense, HC gives time till Feb 29 to clear encroachment

Hajipur, Jan 27(UNI) Even as Patna High Court today set February 29 as deadline for finding a 'peaceful and alternative' solution to the contentious issue of construction of a temple on encroached government land, tension continued to run high in Bagmali locality here where more than a dozen policemen were injured in mob violence last night.
The High Court, while hearing the case today, asked the state government to find a 'peaceful and alternative' solution to the issue by February 29 so that construction of road could be carried out. Home Secretary Aamir Subhani and the Vaishali District Magistrate were present in the court when the state counsel agreed to comply with the order.
The Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General of Tirhut Range, Police Superintendent of Vaishali and its surrounding districts including Saran, Muzaffarpur and Sitamarhi, besides other senior civil officers held a marathon meeting to find ways for compliance of the HC directive to clear government land of illegally constructed temple in Bagmali locality in Hajipur, district head quarter town of Vaishali district.
