Guv Seeks Clarification from Bengal Legislative Assembly after Mannan and Sujan Chakraborty seek his intervention

Kolkata, Sep 19 (UNI) Governor Jagdeep Dhankar has sought a clarification from the secretary of West Bengal Legislative Assembly regarding the West Bengal (Prevention of Lynching) Bill, 2019.
The Raj Bhavan on Wednesday sought the clarification in response to a contention of the representation submitted by two oppositions leaders Abdul Mannan of Congress and Sujan Chakraborty, leader of the Left Front Legislature Party, regarding the Bill No. 21 of 2019 [The West Bengal ( Prevention of Lynching) Bill, 2019] under notification no.953-L, circulated on 26.08.2019, was not in consonance with the Bill in respect of which the governor imparted his recommendation for introduction of the Bill in the West Bengal Assembly in terms of Article 207 of the Constitution.

Those suspended are officers-in charge of Saktipur and Beldanga police stations in Murshidabad district. They failed to contain violence on April 17 in their respective jurisdiction.
