Gurupurab celebrated with religious fervor, gaiety in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 12 (UNI) Gurupurab, birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was on Tuesday celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety in the Kashmir valley.
Members of the Sikh community, including women and children, in colourful dresses, visited Gurdwaras since early this morning despite chilly weather conditions in the valley.
The main congregation was held at Gurdwara Chatipadshahi, Rainawari in the down town city, where devotees from different parts of the city participated in the prayers. The organisors of the Gurdwara had arranged special langar for the devotees.
The district administration had made all necessary arrangements for the devotees.
Similar religious functions were held at Tral, Baramulla, Pulwama, Badgam and other places in the valley.
Muslim and Kashmiri pandit were seen greeting their Sikh brethren on the occasion.

DSGMC to set up departmental stores in all 10 historic gurdwaras in Delhi: Sirsa

New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Sunday said that the DSGMC will set up exclusive departmental stores under brand name "1984 Stores" in all ten historic Gurdwars in National Capital for economic empowerment of 1984 anti-Sikh violence survivors to enable lucrative livelihood to sikh families who are victims of "heinous genocide" which took place after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, in various locations in Delhi.
