Gurugram land allotment: CBI registers new case against Hooda & others, conducts raids at 20 locations

Rohtak, Jan 25 (UNI) A new case has been registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against senior Congress leader and former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and others over alleged irregularities in land allotment in Gurugram.
The CBI officials also conducted searches at over 20 locations in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR), including at the residence of Mr Hooda in Rohtak, on Friday in connection with alleged irregularities in land allotment in 2009.
The former chief minister was present when the CBI team reached his residence in Rohtak.
On November 1, 2017, the Supreme Court had ordered a CBI probe into the acquisition process for 1,407 acre and subsequent release of 95 per cent land.
The case pertains to 1,407 acres in Gurgaon where the previous Congress government had issued a notification under Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act June 2, 2009 for acquiring the land of Nagli Umarpur, Tigra, Ullhawas, Kadarpur, Maidawas, Badshahpur, Behrampur and Ghata for the purpose of development of residential Sectors 58 to 63 and residential-commercial Sectors 65 to 67.
The land acquisition collector finally passed the award only for 87 acres on December 22, 2011. There was release of about 95 per cent of the notified land for acquisition. Taking the CBI investigation into the release of land in Manesar into consideration, the Supreme Court while hearing a petition had ordered a CBI probe into the acquisition and release process.
Gurugram Commissione of Police KK Rao had informed that the Haryana government has given permission to further probe the alleged land scam case registered against Robert Vadra, brother-in-law of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and others.
On September 1, 2018, a case was filed against Vadra, Hooda and others at Kherki Daula police station on the complaint of Tauru resident Surendra Sharma.
