Guru Purnima is an opportunity to pay respect to Guru-Shishya tradition: Yogi

Gorakhpur, Jul 16 (UNI) On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Gorakhpur and performed guru pujan at the Gorakhnath Temple.

He said, "Guru Purnima is an occasion to pay respect to the Guru-Shishya tradition. Teachers play a vital role in shaping and giving new direction to the society."

"From time to time, many sages have given new heights to the tradition of teacher-student. We all are fortunate that we have got an opportunity to celebrate this great tradition at Gorakshnath dham," the CM said.

Remembering the leading lights of Guru-Shishaya tradition, Guru Nanak and Guru Govind Singh, he said, "At that time when the country was fighting foreign invaders, great men of India protected the glory of India and inspired millions."

Remembering his guru Mahant Avaidyanathji, CM Yogi said, "We all received the blessings of Guruji till four years ago. It is very sad that he is not among us today but his blessings are always with us. Gorakhnathpeeth is continuously moving forward on Guruji's path of public welfare which includes Gau Seva, focus on educational institutes and providing health care to Vanvasi samaj ".

"With a negative thinking, person can only think about himself and his family which leads the society towards its decline, whereas positive approach leads to well being of everyone. God does not do injustice to anyone, but in what manner we accept God's grace, depends on us," CM Yogi said.

CM Yogi said that religion is not just about worshipping, but it is a medium that inspires us to move on the path of public welfare.

Explaining the importance of yoga, CM Yogi said, "Yoga is the offering from saints. With the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga got its recognition worldwide and 21 June has been celebrated as a Yoga Day every year".

Talking about Kumbh, he said, "Earlier, Kumbh was known for its chaos but Kumbh 2019 was declared as India's cultural heritage by UNESCO, in which 127 countries of the world participated."
