Guru Purab:2500 sanitation employees working 24/7 for cleanliness on streets of Sultanpur Lodhi

Sultanpur Lodhi, Nov 12 (UNI) Despite heavy influx of devotees in Sultanpur Lodhi, the level of cleanliness on the streets and roads of the holy city is being compared with that of Kumbh Mela of Allahabad city.
Stating this here on Tuesday, Mr Barjinder Singh, Regional Deputy Director, Local Bodies department, said Punjab government is receiving huge appreciation for maintaining cleanliness in holy city of Sultanpur Lodhi despite huge rush of pilgrims. He said 73 langars are being organised and responsibility of cleanliness in all the langars has been taken up by the Local Government department.
The comprehensive plan to maintain cleanliness was chalked out by four member committee led by Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mohindra, Principal Secretary A Venu Prasad, PMIDC CEO Ajoy Sharma and Director, Local Government Karnesh Sharma.
Being executioner of the plan, the Regional Deputy Director said approximately 2500 sanitation employees have been deployed to this task who are working round the clock in three shifts. The senior officials are checking the ground level cleanliness 24x7 and sanitation staff is working in three shifts to keep the city spick and span.
The number of pilgrims attending the event has reached millions and it was not possible to take a round to check cleaning and street lights on a motor vehicle as the streets were flooded with devotees. Therefore, the e-cycles are being used by the officers to conduct these inspections in a smooth way. It is because of these efforts that the whole city is shinning with milky light and cleaned roads.
