Gulzar's 'Libaas' to see light after 29 yrs

Gulzar's 'Libaas' to see light after 29 yrs

New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) Zee Classic as a gift to legendary Lyricist Gulzar, who's outstanding contribution to cinema is still recited by the younger generation, announced the theatrical release of his movie 'Libaas'. Gulzar directed 'Libaas' in 1988 but due to some reasons it remained unreleased. A day after the maestro’s 83rd birthday, the channel Zee Classic with its brand proposition 'Woh Zamaana Kare Deewana', will release the movie after long 29 years. 'Libaas' that underlines Gulzar’s inimitable take on human relationships has been languishing in the archives of the Directorate of Film Festivals and is all set to hit the big screen this year. The cast includes Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Raj Babbar, Sushma Seth, Utpal Dutt, Annu Kapoor and Savita Bajaj amongst others. 'Libaas' is based on Gulzar’s short story Seema from the 'Raavi Paar' collection. The story revolves around theatre director Sudhir (played by Naseeruddin Shah) and his actor wife Seema (portrayed by Shabana Azmi). All seems to be the picture of a perfect married life, but appearances are often deceptive in this world of show business. The music of the movie is composed by the musical genius R D Burman.
