Gujarat Govt orders closure of work at construction site due death of worker

Gandhinagar, Aug 23 (UNI)The Labour and Employment Department on Friday issued closure order to a construction site in Ahmedabad following death of a worker due to inadequate safety measures.
The order was issued to M/s Samkit Infracon, the developer of Alpha Business Park, Sindhu Bhavan Road, following the accidental death of 18-yar-old worker Payal Garasiya at the site on 20th August 2019.
Additional Chief Secretary, State Labour and Employment DepartmentVipul Mittra, , said, “Primary investigation by officials from Labour and Employment Department has revealed that the worker slipped from the fourth floor while unloading blocks from the goods lift. We have ordered closure of work at the site as safety standards mandated under Labour Laws were not met.”
