Gujarat govt contemplating to organize Narmada Aarti daily like Varanasi's Ganga Aarti: CM Rupani

Ahmedabad, Jan 4 (UNI) The Gujarat government is contemplating to organize the 'Aarti' of river Narmada fondly called as Mother Reva or Narmada in Gujarat on daily basis, on the lines of Ganga Aarti of Varanasi in Kevadiya where the Sardar Sarovar Dam is situated, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said on Saturday.
Ussualy the normal Aarti of Narmada is done in Kevadiya and other places only on special occasions.
Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also performed puja of the Narmada water at Sardar Sarovar Dam to mark completion of the dam project.
Narmada which is among one of the most revered holy river of Hindu religion is termed as the life line of Gujarat where over half of its population depends on its water.
Notably, Kevadiya in Narmada district of central Gujarat is also quite near by to the Statue of Unity.

Give priority to development works in Aurangabad: Minister

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jan 20 (UNI) Aurangabad district Guardian Minister Subhas Desai on Monday said that people's representatives and government machinery should carry out massive development works in the district and give priority to public welfare works for which sufficient funds will be provided from the government.
A meeting of District Planning Development Council (DPDC), Aurangabad, was held under the chairmanship of Mr Desai on Monday at district collector office.
