Gujarat CM shows leniency to 'chaotic' PAAS supporters

Ahmedabad, Nov 16 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today showed 'leniency' towards a group of alleged supporters of Patidar Anamat Aandolan Samiti (PAAS), who created ruckus in her public meeting in Talaja town of Bhavnagar district and instructed the police to not to arrest them.
Ms Patel was in Talaja to address a meeting in support of the ruling BJP candidates for the upcoming local body polls. A group of PAAS supporters started shouting slogans during the meeting.
A chaotic scene was created but the Chief Minister, on the dais, maintained her cool and was overheard saying that they should not be arrested.
Following her instructions, the police merely moved 20 to 25 such youths out of the venue. The youths kept shouting slogans like 'Jai Sardar- Jai Patidar' but they were not arrested.
Prior to the meeting, police had nabbed five of the local PAAS leaders as precautionary measure only to be left after the programme.
It was the second incident of ruckus by the supporters of pro Patel reservation stir during the Chief Minister's meeting. Earlier last evening, they tried to create a 'scene' during the election campaign meeting of Ms Patel in Limbayat area of Surat district. Three people including the self styled convener of Akhil Bhartiya Patidar Paramarsh Samiti K D Sheladiya were nabbed while they were trying to enter the venue.
