Gujarat-based Torrent registers 36 pc growth in Q2 net profit

Ahmedabad, Oct 23 (UNI) Gujarat based multinational Pharma major Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd (Torrent), on Wednesday recorded a net profit at Rs 244 crore in the the second quarter of the current fiscal, as against Rs 179 crore in Q2 of the last year, up by 36 per cent.

According to the financial results for Q2 FY 2019-20, the total revenue of the company has also grown by six per cent at Rs 2,005 crore.
India's business stood at Rs 899 crore, up by 10 per cent on Year-on-Year (YoY). US revenues were at Rs 380 crore, down by three per cent YoY. Germany revenues were at Rs 250 crore, down by one per cent YoY.
Brazil revenues stood at Rs 156 crore, up by seven per cent YoY. Net profit was at Rs 244 crore, as against Rs 179 crore in Q2 FY19, up by 36 per cent YoY.

In half yearly terms, the revenues were at Rs 4,027 crore during H1, up by seven per cent, in comparison to the first half of FY 19. Net profit was at Rs 460 crore, as against Rs 342 crore in H1 FY19, up by 35 per cent YoY.

Torrent Pharma, with annual revenues of more than Rs 7,600 crore, is the flagship Company of Torrent Group. It is ranked eighth in the Indian Pharmaceuticals Market and is among the Top five in the therapeutics segments of Cardiovascular (CV), Central Nervous System (CNS), Gastro-intestinal (GI), and Vitamins Minerals Nutritionals (VMN).
It is a specialty-focused company with 74 per cent of its revenue from chronic and sub-chronic therapies. It has presence in 40 countries and is ranked number 1 among the Indian Pharma companies in Brazil, Germany and Philippines.
Torrent has eight manufacturing facilities (seven in India and one in US), of which five are USFDA approved.
