Ahmedabad, Dec 14 (UNI) BJP President Amit Shah on Thursday cast his vote for the Gujarat Assembly elections at sub-zonal office under Naranpura constituency and also urged the people to exercise their franchise for the development of the state.
In the past, Mr Shah has represented this seat as a lawmaker. This time, the saffron party has fielded
Kaushik Patel while Nitin Patel is contesting from the Congress party.
After casting his vote, Mr Shah told reporters, “I appeal to all the people to come in large number and
exercise their franchise for giving a strong momentum to ongoing developmental work carried out in
the state.”
The voting is on in 93 seats across central and north Gujarat.
A total of 851 candidates are in the fray and over 2.22 crore electorate are expected to exercise their
franchise to decide their fate.
The BJP has fielded 93 candidates while the Congress has fielded 91 candidates and extended
support to two independent candidates that includes a Dalit activist Jignesh Mevani and former
JDU leader Chhotubhai Vasava.
On December 9, the polling was held in 89 seats of Saurashtra and South Gujarat region, where a
total of 977 candidates’ fate were sealed in the EVMs.
The result will be declared on December 18.
