Guj ATS recovers Methamphetamine worth Rs 24 cr from Delhi

Ahmedabad, Apr 15 (UNI) The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat police seized five kg of contraband Methamphetamine, also known as party drug 'Ice' or Crystal worth Rs 24 crore from a house in Paharganj area of New Delhi, on the basis of information received from two accused in Gujarat, the ATS said here on Monday.

According to an ATS official, the raid in Delhi was conducted on the basis of interrogation of two persons, including an Afghan national, who were arrested in connection with the seizure of 100 kg Heroin, as they were to receive the consignment of the drug brought from Pakistan by nine Iranian smugglers (already under arrest).
The accused were identified as Mohammed Abdul Salaam Kunni (47), resident of Kasargod, Kerala and Niyamat Khan Ahmedzai, resident of Logar Province, Afghanistan. They were taken on remand.
Interrogation revealed that the accused had kept the contraband in a house in Paharganj area of New Delhi, where he was living on rent. Police recovered it. The ATS was further investigating the case, the official added.
On March 26, in a joint operation, the Anti-Terrorist Squad of Gujarat, the Indian Coast Guard and the Marine Task Force had seized 100 kg Heorin in a high-risk operation, off Porbandar Coast.
Nine Iranian nationals were also arrested from the boat, which illegally entered Indian waters, to deliver the consignment.
Interrogation of the nine Iranian nationals and technical analysis revealed that the consignment was to be received by an Indian fishing boat, and further to be brought to the Indian coast.
This consignment would have been taken to Delhi, where Ahmedzai would have received it. Heroin would have been further handed over to Abdul Salaam Kunni, to be taken to Chennai and Mallpuram, to be further smuggled outside India.
