Guangzhou edge Jiangsu to end six-game losing streak

Qingdao, China, Jul 16 (Xinhua) With five players scoring in double digits, Guangzhou Long Lions beat Jiangsu Dragons 107-100 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Thursday, getting over their six-game losing streak.

Falling behind with eight points midway through the second quarter, Guangzhou fought back and took a 51-50 lead instead as the first half expired.

Former NBA point guard Marcus Georges-Hunt contributed 11 points for Guangzhou in the second quarter.

Two sides traded the lead several times in the second half with a single-digit margin. Chen Yingjun stayed solid on the free-throw line to score two points, earning a decisive seven-point lead for Guangzhou with 25 seconds left.

Georges-Hunt collected triple-double with 30 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists for Guangzhou, Guo Kai finished with 23 points, Zheng Zhun contributed 20 points, Chen and Si Kun each got 14 points.

Antonio Blakeney scored a game-high 46 points and 12 rebounds for Jiangsu, Wu Guanxi took 23 points along with 12 rebounds, and Zhao Shuaizhou added 17 points.

"The organization of the offense was too simple and the defense was weak as well," said Xu Qiang, coach of Jiangsu.

"This is a victory that we have waited for so long. Georges-Hunt got triple-double today, and this is the reward of his hard training," said Guangzhou coach Ding Wei.
