GST Council paves way for simplification of filing returns, shows concerns on collections

New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) The GST Council has paved the way for simplification of GST returns and hinted that there may be filing of only Form 3b along with uploading of invoices by the suppliers, but decided to start anti evasion clauses to check the declining trend of tax collection as it has shown declining trend in recent months.
Briefing media persons after the 25th Meeting of the GST Council on Thursday, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the council discussed seriously about the simplification of GST return. There was proposal to continue with Form 3b and simply uploading of invoices by the concerned suppliers.
In this regard presentations were made during the meeting and it was decided that the committees formed on the issue will go ahead to further recommend final solution.
Mr Jaitley added that once the final suggestion will come, it will be circulated among the members and will be discussed in the next meeting of the Council which will hold through video conferencing. Once the members will agree, it may be approved.
