Growing insecurity among the States is a threat to Federalism: Justice Dixit Sripad

Bengaluru, Dec 15(UNI) Maintaining that growing insecurity among the States is a threat to federalism, Karnataka High Court Judge Justice Dixit Krishna Sripad called for strengthening Federal principle, enshrined in the Constitution.
Delivering inaugural address at a seminar on ‘Changing contours of Federalism in India’ organized by the University Law College, here on Saturday, he recalled that “Federal principle is imbibed in Indian Philosophy and had also find its mention in Vedas”.
Highlighting autonomy of the States justice referred to a Vedic principle which said that there shall be no need for a Union government, punishment or a Magistrate when there exists co-operation among people and peaceful co-existence.
