Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Sep 9 2016 7:41PM Govt working for welfare of SC, ST and OBC People: GohainKolkata, Sep 9 (UNI) Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain today said the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) people as well as the people belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) should be given adequate Constitutional safeguards and the present Government is working for it whole-heartedly. Speaking on the Central Annual Convention and General Body Meeting of the All India Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Railway Employees Association here, Mr Gohain said, "As a foundation is needed for building a house, likewise, Dr B R Ambedkar laid the foundation for our country in the form of Indian Constitution, following which the country is running smoothly today."Mr Gohain said the number of railway employees has come down to 13 lakhs from 15 lakhs and amongst these; the number of SC & ST employees is merely 3 lakhs.
