New Delhi, Jul 21 (UNI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said the government would have regular interactions with the armed forces veterans and work with complete dedication on their issues.
Speaking at an event on Kargil Vijay Diwas organised here by the ‘Veterans India’, an organisation led by ex-servicemen, Mr Singh said "I will work for you, and I am sure we will succeed.”
The minister heaped praise on the valour, fighting and sacrificial spirit of the Indian soldiers during the Kargil War as also in the earlier wars.
Referring to his visit to Drass on July 20 and recalling the stories of immense courage and ultimate sacrifices made by the valiant soldiers during the Kargil war, the minister said “our soldiers had fought against all odds, in the face of enemy fire from the heights, to re-take one peak after another. They didn't know what is fear and hugged death in the service of the country.”
The nation bows in honour of its brave sons, he added.
He further added that his visit to Siachen soon after assuming office signalled that the Indian soldiers would remain at the centre of decision making process.
After the Balakot strikes, the country's pride and confidence in its armed forces has increased, he said.
He also felicitated family members of some martyred soldiers at the event.
Patron, Veterans India Maj Gen Retd G D Bakshi, National President, Veterans India BK Mishra and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
