Govt urged to announce relief packages for musicians

New Delhi, Jul 12 (UNI) Amid the rising number of COVID cases in the country, with the country's share in daily Covid-19 global cases now being 12 per cent, a petition has been started on the part of independent musicians to request the government to announce 'immediate relief packages for singers, lyricists, composers, engineers and others from the music industry'.
The move, led by 'Euphoria' frontman Palash Sen also demanded creation of a recognised body for the music industry that takes care of the issues pertaining to people employed in the field.
"When the pandemic hit, people started waking up to the reality, but I have always known the reality of the music in this country. Like - who are the people who are making the music and how it is supported and gets across to people. Being an independent musician, I am always looking at it from the outside, from the sidelines," Palash said.
