New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that the Government will start two separate projects to conserve Gangetic dolphins and Asiatic lions, while addressing the nation on the occasion of 74th Independence Day.
The Prime Minister said India is fully sensitive to the preservation and promotion of its biodiversity.
He referred to the success of projects started in the past for tigers and elephants.
'We have successfully carried out Project Tiger and Project Elephant,' Mr Modi said.
'In the recent past, the tiger population has increased at a rapid pace in the country, ' he said.
'Now a project Lion for our Asiatic lions is also going to be started in the country soon. Similarly, Project Dolphin will also be launched for riverine and oceanic dolphins,' Mr Modi said.
'Under this, work will be done on the protection and especially the infrastructure required for their health,' he said.
These projects will strengthen the biodiversity and will also increase employment opportunities, the Prime Minister said.
