Govt to spend 50 per cent of the budget for welfare of SC/ST: Raghubar

Gumla, Nov 18 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the government has spent Rs 18 thousand and 28 crore rupees for the welfare of the tribals and has decided to spend 50 per cent of the budget for the development of the SC and ST.
Addressing the interstate tribal cultural samagam function as Manjha Tola of Raidih block of this district, he said that there was a need for the tribal community to be awakened and educated and protect their religion, language and culture. He said that the state government would be soon launching the Harthik Oraon Skill Development School so that the children not only become educated but also skilled.
The Chief Minister said that the government has already sent the proposal for establishment of Pankah Raj Saheb Karthik Oraon Adivasi Shakti Autonomous University to the central government. He said that he did not believe in politics of division but that of development. He asked the people to remain vigilant against anti-national and anti-development powers.
Further, in the programme, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh said that under Raghubar Das the doors of development had been opened in the state and industries and educational institutions are coming to Jharkhand. He said that there were several welfare measures and schemes in the state which are not in any other state and said that both the states together would establish coordination among themselves and move further on the ladder of development.
He said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister new schemes and inspirations are being provided so that these newly formed states work for the all round development of the people. He said that both the states were formed during the same time, but in Jharkhand political instability prevailed for long. Mr Singh said, earlier, Jharkhand witnessed change of Chief Ministers in every six months.
The Chief Minister of the neighbouring state said that stability is important if Jharkhand has to make progress. He said that Jharkhand was also the state of the brave hearts and the sons of the state have laid down their lives to protect their cultural tradition and mother land. Dr Singh expressed happiness that every year the people gather here and take pledge to protect their culture and added that despite being separated by physical boundaries the heart of both the states was one.
The event was also addressed by Union Ministers Sudarshan Bhagat, Vishwadev Sai, Gumla MLA Shivshankar Oraon and Padamshri Ashok Bhagat.
