Govt targets to generate 5000 MW power through non-conventional energy sourcecs by 2019

Hyderabad, Nov 13 (UNI) The Telangana Government has targeted to achieve 5000 MW Power generation through non-conventional energy sources by 2019, Energy Minister B Jagadesh Reddy said on Monday.
Replying to questions in the house, Mr Reddy said to meet the growing demand and reduce the pollution, the state government has decided to encourage power generation through non-conventional energy sources in the state.
As a result during the last three years, 2,792 MW Solar power and 100.80 MW wind power was generated. As Solar power generation concerned, the Telangana state was ahead as compared to other states in the country. Of the total Solar Power generation of 2792 MW, one MW was producing by the Genco and remaining from the private sector, the Minister said.
