Govt orgS should work within legal domain: Bassi on DCW notice

New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) Reacting sharply at the Delhi Commission for Women Chief Swati Maliwal for summoning him for producing the records on women’s safety, Police Commissioner B S Bassi today said government organisations should work within their legal domain.
Yesterday, Ms Maliwal had said if the Delhi Police failed to submit data on crimes against women as the DCW had asked, it will exercise its powers of a civil court.
“It is not necessary that the Delhi Police Commissioner should come at its office; he can also send his deputy to the summons but they should provide the data to the commission, else the commission will exercise its powers of a civil court. It is an offence under Section 176 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) with a punishment of jail term of one month and /or fine,” she said.
