New Delhi, Sep 21 (UNI) Congress on Monday has termed the suspension of eight members from the Rajya Sabha as dictatorship of the government, and accused the ruling dispensation of abolishing the MSP system for the farmers, further raising the question over the intention, saying if the intention was right then the granting of MSP should be mentioned in the law.
Leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, Communications Chief Randeep Singh Surjewala and Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Singh Bajwa addressing a joint press conference here said that the PM Modi led government was attacking the parliamentary democracy's structure and alleged that it was adopting dictatorship and the result of the government's dictatorial attitude is that eight parliamentarians from the opposition have been suspended without any reason, the Congress leaders claimed.
They said that those who have been suspended were raising the voice against the anti-farmer bill, to which the Deputy Chairman did not listen.
Congress leaders further said that when the members of the opposition asked for the division of votes, they were denied the right.
Terming this as 'dictatorship', the Congress leaders accused the BJP of destroying the democratic system and taking to dictatorial ways and just doing what it feels right in the House.
The leaders further said that the government claims that the law will not affect MSP and this system will carry on.
However, Congress questioned saying that if the government intention is right, then it must guarantee the farmers regarding the MSP and this must be mentioned in the new law that the farmers will be provided the same and those companies violating the law will be brought to the book.
Congress leaders further alleged that the BJP government's 'black' ordinances are continuously pushing farmers towards slavery.
This government is neither giving a guarantee of MSP, nor is assuring the market value of the harvest in its ordinances, the Congress leaders said.
They accused the BJP of favoring a few capitalists and the government's anti-farmer decisions are proving to be not less than a death sentence for the farmers.
The tension of the farmers is rising as there is no mention of MSP in any of the two farmer bills passed in the House.
