New Delhi, Mar 24 (UNI) Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday said the government is keeping vigil on the progress of the novel Coronavirus pandemic in the country and the next few weeks are important.
Dr Vardhan said while speaking to a channel that public cooperation with the Government is also necessary to defeat the Coronavirus and that people should follow rules during the lock-down to help contain the outbreak.
He said in the past few days, 62,000 people have come to India from abroad, of whom 8,000 have been kept in government quarantine.
The Health Minister said doctors and medical workers are treating patients by putting their lives at stake.
Appealing to the people not to go to the markets, Dr Vardhan said online shopping can be done at this time. And if there was anybody in home quarantine, then they should not consider them untouchable but keep them in a separate room and take full care.
He also appealed to the people to fulfill their responsibility to support the government. "Only then will we all be able to deal with this situation," he added.
