Panaji, Jan 28 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that certain local villagers has shown opposition for allotment of land for campus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the government is in touch with them to resolve the issue amicably.
In a written reply in response to a question tabled by Independent MLA Prasad Gaonkar, Dr Sawant, who also holds education portfolio, said land admeasuring 10.00 lakh sq mts under Survey No. 67/1 in Village Melauli of Sattari Taluka, North–Goa, had been handed over for setting up its campus of IIT-G in the State of
Goa, free of cost.
He said land admeasuring approximately 13,10,202 sq mts in Village Cotarli of Sanguem Taluka and in Village Nagvem of Quepem Taluka was identified
for setting up of the Indian Institute of Technology campus in the State of Goa but in view of the various difficulties encountered in procuring or cquiring and transferring the land to IIT,Goa, alternate sites were explored.
