Govt identifies key areas to put NER on inclusive growth path

New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) The North Eastern Region Vision 2020 Document provides an overarching development vision for the North Eastern Region (NER) and the government has identified some key areas to put the region on an accelerated, sustainable and inclusive growth path.
According to officials, the major areas identified include agriculture and allied activities comprise horticulture, floriculture, medicinal and aromatic plants, tourism, improving infrastructure for connectivity, entrepreneurship development, capacity and skill building.
The North Eastern Region Vision 2020 Document was unveiled by the government in July 2008 and the purpose of this vision document was to return the North Eastern Region to the position of national economic eminence it held till a few decades ago and to ensure that the region plays the arrow-head role it must play in the vanguard of the country’s Look East Policy.
