Govt denies reports of proposed Middle East-India deepwater energy pipeline

New Delhi, Jun 16 (UNI) The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) on Tuesday categorically denied media reports claiming that India is actively pursuing a proposed deep-sea energy pipeline linking the country's western coast with Oman and other Gulf nations, stating that no such project is under consideration.
In a clarification issued by the ministry, MoPNG said it had taken note of a series of media reports referring to a purported "Middle East-India Deepwater Pipeline" (MEIDP), which was said to connect Gujarat with Oman and potentially other countries in the Gulf region.
"The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas wishes to categorically clarify that no such proposal is currently under consideration by this Ministry," the statement said.
