Govt committed to give better opportunities to athletes: HP minister

Dharamshala, Aug 15 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh's Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary on Monday said that the government is committed to provide better opportunities to the sportspersons, while special attention is being paid to sports infrastructure.
While addressing the players after the closing ceremony of the three-day Under-19 Tournament Competition (Zone Rait) in GSS School, Durgela, Chaudhary said that that under the Chief Minister's Sports Development Scheme, an amount of Rs 3 crore is being spent for the construction of sports grounds in each assembly constituency, in which the sports ground was constructed with Rs 10 lakh.
She said that even under Mukhyamantri Yuva Khel Protsahan Yojana, Rs 10.32 crore has been spent for the construction of grounds in each assembly constituency. The minister said that Rs 7.39 crore has been released for organizing various sports activities and promotion of sports in the state.
