Govt. bans production and sale of chicken in Paradip

Bhubaneswar, Feb 26 (UNI) Odisha government has imposed a ban on the production, sale of chickens and chicken products in Paradip area of jagatsinghpur district for three months after the blood samples of a chicken sent to High Security Animal Diseases Laboratory Bhopal found to be H5N1 positive.
State animal resources and husbandry department secretary Vishal Gagan told newspersons here that in total 314 blood samples were sent to Bhopal out of which two—the blood of a chicken and a duck were found positive.
He said, culling of chickens in the area has already started to ensure that the disease does not spread to newer areas.
