Govt announces TS-IPA 2020 for IP Champions

Hyderabad, Feb 17 (UNI) Telangana Government on Monday announced first of its kind in the country -Telangana State Intellectual Property Award (TS-IPA) 2020 for IP Champions from the state powered by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The objective of the TS-IPA is to honour the state based companies that inspire others to seek new ways to grow their businesses by leveraging on IP.

The awards to be given in 7 categories for best IP Portfolio in PSU, Large Enterprise, Small Enterprise, Medium Enterprise, Academic Institution and Startup; Promoter of Geographical Indication.
The last date to apply for the awards is March 10, 2020, a CII statement here said.

The companies which have successfully generated outstanding enterprise growth with a strong IP strategy will be awarded by the Government of Telangana and also to bring in a strong IP culture in the state.

Mr Jayesh Ranjan IAS, Principal Secretary said that Telangana e is working towards being the top 3 states when it comes to filing IPRs and this kind of encouragement to IP owners will definitely help to create awareness and also build the ecosystem..

Mr D Raju, Chairman CII Telangana said the state is very proactive in promoting knowledge driven ecosystem and State IP Awards will trigger the latent use intellectual property and will make companies based out of Telangana think more proactively in this direction.
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has advocated launch of first of its kind Telangana State IP Awards along with a Coffee Table Book on Geographical Indication (GI) from the state.

Mr Subhajit Saha, Director, CII Telangana has urged all stakeholders to come forward and apply for this Telangana State IP Awards.
The awards will be given to eligible companies on April 22, 2020 during an event organized to commemorate World IP Day, the statement said.
