Mumbai, Feb 20 (UNI) The state government is working to fulfil expectations of all social elements including farmers, workers, youths and everyone's participation is necessary to take Maharashtra towards greater prosperity, asserted state Governor Ramesh Bais on Tuesday.
Addressing special session of assembly after its inauguration, he said, "We have set an ambitious goal of achieving a trillion dollar economy of the state in line with the country's goal of achieving a five trillion dollar economy by 2027-28."
He further said that there has been a substantial increase in employment generation, investment in industrial sector.
He further said that the state government is working according to ideals laid down by social reformers like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
He also said that the state government constituted the Justice Sandeep Shinde Committee to check records, determine procedure for issuing Kunbi caste certificates to eligible members of the Maratha community and accordingly, the Kunbi caste certificates are being issued to Marathas.
Also, the government has launched Maharaja Sayajirao Gaikwad Scholarship Scheme for overseas education for 75 meritorious students from Maratha and Kunbi communities, the Governor said.
Furthermore, it has given an administrative approval for construction of Sarathi Sanstha's divisional and sub-central offices in Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Navi Mumbai, Latur, Nagpur and Pune, he informed.
Rs 232 crore have been distributed to more than 17,500 beneficiaries of the Maratha community through the Annasaheb Patil Economic Backward Development Corporation as interest refund for their commercial loans, he said.
Bais further said that under Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Aadhar Yojana, the allowance amount will be directly deposited in the bank accounts of Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Tribes, Nomadic Tribes and Special Backward Classes to provide food, accommodation and other educational facilities to the students.
The number of foreign scholarships has been increased from 50 to 75 for meritorious students belonging to Freed Castes, Nomadic Tribes, OBCs and Special Backward Classes, he informed.
The government has also decided to establish corporations for upliftment of Gurava, Lingayat, Nabhik,
Ramoshi and Vadar communities, he said.
Under PM Awas Housing Scheme, 10 lakh houses will be built in the state in next three years for OBCs, STs, Nomadic Tribes and Special Backward Classes, he added.
The Governor also highlighted a number of welfare schemes launched by both the state and central
government in the state.
