Moscow, June 5 (UNI) Mikhail Gorbachev, the last Soviet leader, on Tuesday said a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump must be held urgently to thaw bilateral relations and address regional and global problems.
"A summit between the Russian and US presidents has to be arranged. It is absolutely abnormal that they have not had any full-fledged negotiations," Gorbachev said in a statement posted on the Gorbachev Foundation’s website.
"We have squandered the year 2017 and already almost a half of this year. We need to catch up with what has been missed," the former Soviet president said, greeting participants in an international conference arranged at the Gorbachev Foundation on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the historic visit by US President Ronald Reagan to Moscow.
