Goondas act slapped on youth after arrested for sexual harassment and extortion

Kanyakumari, Apr 30 (UNI) Kanyakumari district administration on Thursday invoked the provisions of the stringent Goondas Act against a 26-year-old youth, who was arrested for filming intimate videos and photographs of over 100 young women, many of them doctors and IT professionals after he had befriended and extorted lakhs of rupees from them over the last six years in Kanyakumari and Chennai.
Kanyakumari Superintendent of Police (SP) N.Sreenath had recommended the detention of the accused T.Kasi alias Suji of Nagercoil, here under the Goondas Act, police sources said.
Kasi befriended women from affluent families through social media by introducing himself as an entrepreneur, a trainee pilot or a lawyer. He uploaded his edited videos and photographs taken during gym workouts.
He had allegedly established physical intimacy with the befriended women and shoot intimate photographs and videos secretly. He then blackmail the victims of uploading the photographs and the videos on the social media if they did not gave him money.
He was arrested by the Kottar police in Kanyakumari district on Friday after a woman doctor from Chennai lodged a complaint against him with the SP online.
The police recovered mobile phones, laptop, hard discs, CDs from him in which it was found he had stored intimate photographs and videos of several women.
He was booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Women's Harassment Act.
