Gold worth around Rs 53 lakh seized at Kannur Intl Airport, two held

Kannur, Aug 6 (UNI) Customs sleuths on Thursday seized 932 grams of gold worth around Rs 53 lakh from two passengers who arrived at Kannur International Airport in a chartered flight from Dubai under Vande Bharat Mission.
Customs Assistant Commissioner E VIkas-led team detained two passengers Mishab and Hamza, both hails from Kasaragod district, with 465 and 467 grams of gold with them respectively.
According to customs officials, the seized gold was converted into narrow strips with mercury coating and concealed inside separate metal strips and kept in their bags.
