Gold smuggling: PwC clarifies sacked woman on payroll of 3rd party agency

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 6 (UNI) PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a multinational professional services provider, on Monday clarified that the woman who was sacked from the Kerala IT Department for her alleged role in the smuggling of gold through the UAE diplomatic baggage, was on the payroll of a third party agency.
In a press release here this evening, the PwC said "the third party agency, which provides specialized short term resources to the PwC, is under a contractual obligation to meet all statutory compliances and conduct necessary background verification of all the resources deployed on our projects and confirm the protocols have been followed."
"In this case as well, the agency specifically confirmed the same," the PwC added.
