Gold smuggling episode : IMUL demands resignation of CM

Malappuram, Jul 9 (UNI) Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) demanded the resignation of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan owning moral responsibility in the gold smuggling episode.
Speaking at a a dharna organised by the workers of the United Democratic Front (UDF), demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister, here on Thursday, IUML National General Secretary P K Kunhalikutty said, being a party to the gold smuggling that was busted by the Air Customs Intelligence unit at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport via the diplomatic route, Mr Vijayan has no moral authority to continue in power and hence he should resign from the post.
The explanation given by the Chief Minister that none in his office had any connection, with the gold smuggling has turned out to be untrue as the rapport of a few top officials in his office with the accused has been established and Mr Vijayan had acted against one of them (referring to his former Principal Secretary M Sivasankar) by removing him from the key position he held in the CM's office.
