Kochi, Jul 12 (UNI) The National Investigation Agency special court will consider
the demand by NIA to take Swapna and Sandeep, accused in the gold
smuggling case, in custody on Monday.
NIA has demanded custody of the duo for ten days starting from Monday.
The accused have to be interrogated in detail and their links with terrorist
outfits need to be examined, NIA stated in their request.
The advocate representing the accused did not appear before the NIA court
on Sunday. In this context, the court granted the duo an advocate through
Kerala State Legal Services Authority, to represent them.
The court granted three-day judicial custody of the accused. The KELSA
advocate told the media that the custody plea will be considered on Monday.
Earlier, Rajesh Kumar, an advocate from here, had approached the high court
seeking anticipatory bail for Swapna. However, Kumar stated that he did not
get further instructions from the accused.
The samples of the duo were taken as part of COVID testing. The result of
the test will be released on Monday. Following prison COVID guidelines,
Sandeep was sent to Carmel COVID centre in Angamaly while Swapna to
