Kochi, Aug 13 (UNI) The Special Court for Economic Offences here on Thursday rejected the bail application filed by Swapna Suresh, one of the main accused in the gold smuggling case, terming her a 'highly influential lady.'
The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offences) Deepu C observed that the accused had connections with higher officials at the UAE consulate even after leaving the job.
"She managed to get a job in a government project. So she does not deserve any special privileges as a woman," the court remarked.
