Srinagar, Nov 17 (UNI) Lt Gen AK Bhatt, GOC, Chinar Corps on Saturday inaugurated the renovated Chinar Shopping Complex (CSC) at Badami Bagh (BB) Cantonment, and dedicated it to the troops and their families, a defence ministry spokesman said here this evening.
The CSC has a history of over 50 years wherein it has been meeting the daily requirements of all ranks and their families at BB Cantonment. In time, it has withstood major calamities like Floods, Earthquake and Fire and was in urgent requirement of a complete makeover. This onerous task was undertaken by Headquarter 31 Sub Area wherein extensive and complete renovation of this Complex was carried out in a record time with improved amenities.
A massive tree plantation drive with an aim to preserve the environment and give back to the nature was also launched at BB Cantt. The event began by planting of four Chinar Trees, one each by the Chinar Corps Commander, Chief of Staff Chinar Corps, GOC 31 Sub Area and Station Commander, BB Cantt.
