Panaji, Jul 16 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that state Governor Satya Pal Malik had expressed concern about negative and incorrect coverage of the state government's handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in the mainstream media and the social media.

Speaking to reporters after a review meeting chaired by Malik at Raj Bhavan,"There is a wrong information being circulated on the social

media, so we gave him the right picture. He praised the ongoing efforts made by us and said that social media, electronic media and print media is giving the wrong picture."

"The Governor said that the media should also focus on the positives and said that he does not know why he was being given the wrong picture," the Chief Minister said.

The review meeting was called day after three day lockdown announced by the government to control rising cases of COVID-19 in the state.

Dr Sawant said the Governor appreciated state government's efforts of managing the Covid pandemic and accused opposition of spreading wrong picture through the media.

"The Health Secretary told the Governor that despite giving daily updates, wrong information is being circulated (in the media)," the Chief Minister said.
