Independence Day is a solemn occasion for all the citizens of our country to refresh their Patriotic and Nationalistic moorings and to rededicate themselves to the fulfillment of the democratic ideals cherished by the Founding Father and valiant freedom fighters of our country.”

She said, “We must take all possible steps to integrate the diverse sections of the society in order to maintain peace and tranquility and the prevailing communal harmony, peaceful co-existence and fraternal relations among different religions and linguistic denominations, should be further promoted and strengthened. Goa has a truly glorious history and a distinct culture and identity, and the people are educated aware and receptive to new ideas.'

“The state is fortunately endowed with rich and abundant natural resources. Needless to add, the future of Goa rests largely on the intelligent and synergistic blending of these precious human and natural resources. Every citizen should consciously cooperate and zealously contributed to this great cause. I am fully aware, the State Government and the people do not believe in resting on their oars. It is my sincere hope that there will be wholehearted cooperation, collaboration and support of the community and various stakeholders to all the major developmental initiatives and broad-based programmes and policies being formulated by the State Government aimed at creating better conditions of life for one all,” the Governor said.
