Goa CM to write to Fadnavis over release of Tillari dam water

Panaji, Aug 27 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that he would write to his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis over release of excess water from Tilari dam which had caused floods in villages of the coastal state.
Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister said,''We are writing to CM about the Tillari dam.”
The Chief Minister said he had instructed Water Resources Department (WRD) and Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct study over flooding in low lying areas to prevent their recurrence.
“A study is required. I have given instructions to concerned officers of the Water Resources Department and the Public Works Department to study the matter and submit the report,” he said.
Two villages in Goa were flooded after floodgates of Tilari dam, located in Maharashtra, were opened allegedly without prior warning this month.
