Goa CM inaugurates Vibrant Goa Expo & Summit 2019

Panaji, Oct 17 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated the ‘Vibrant Goa Global Expo and Summit 2019’ at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukharjee Indoor Stadium, Taleigao, in the presence of more than 2500 national and international delegates on Thursday.

Minister for Heath Vishwajeet Rane, Minister for Revenue Jennifer Monserrate, Under Secretary for foreign Trade Affairs, UAE, Juma Mohammed Al Kait, Secretary General, Business Club France Madame Veronique Moncada, Vice Chairman Oman Chamber of Commerce, Oman Dr Saklim Al Junaidi, Higher ARC LLC, USA, James Lee Kawski, Chairman of Vibrant Goa Foundation Nitin Kuncalienker, Chief Mentor Dr Jagat Shah, President Rajkumar Kamat, President of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Manoj M Caculo and Chairman of Dhempo Group Shriniwas Dempo were present on the occasion.

The three day Summit which will conclude on October 19 will witness knowledge lecture series by 85 speakers and exhibition stalls by 550 companies from 52 countries around the world as well as local entrepreneurs.

The Chief Minister in his address said Summits like 'Vibrant Goa' would help in the state as well as country’s economic growth.

He said prime focus of the event was the inclusive development in key areas such as innovations, sustainability, industries, technology, youth and skill development, knowledge sharing and networking.

He said main objective of the event was to push business in the state of Goa by providing platform to investor to connect with the Goan businesses.

“It is also a platform for Goan entrepreneurs to showcase and boost their business,” he said.

Stressing on Prime Minister’s idea of New India, the Chief Minister urged the foreign delegates to invest in Goa and ensured to clear the proposals in 30 days.

“Goa would love expand its business parameters. The Goa Start-up policy initiated by the Government is a golden opportunity for people to turn their ideas into businesses,” the Chief Minister said.

Mr Rane, while praising Vibrant Goa initiative, said the summit was an amalgamation of people with vast expose and experience.

“It’s the time we change our work perspective. Vibrant Goa will bridge the gaps between countries and strengthen economical ties. However, we must see that we invest in clean and green projects which will catalyst growth. We must also build a sustainable model for industrial growth to explore and energies the industrial sector. We can also create a very new Eco system to attract new companies and this is possible with constant dialogues via events like Vibrant Goa,” the Minister said.

Calling Vibrant Goa an ideal convergence for business enthusiasts Monserrate said the event would provide practical opportunities to industrialists in Goa as well as abroad.

“Let’s make Goa a top investment destination. To make this happen we shall need an Institutional framework. By holding digital literacy programs and by enabling faster technology, Goa will one day become power house of technology,” she stated.

In their addresses the officials and foreign delegates too agreed to strengthen tie-ups with the country, specially with Goa in sectors like ship building, tourism, fisheries, food processing, mining and manufacturing, maritime trade etc.

“India provides endless opportunities for business and events like vibrant Goa is destination to strengthen the bi-lateral ties with the country,” said Juma Mohammed Al Kait, Under Secretary for Foreign Trade Affairs.

Madame Veronique Moncoda informed that France was keen to strengthen its ties with the country in terms of education and industries.

Minister for Transport Mauvin Godinho, Minister for Ports Michael Lobo, MLAs Francisco Silveira, Prasad Gaonkar and Tony Fernandes, Chief Secretary Shri. Parimal Rai, IAS were also present among others.

Earlier, the function began by lighting the traditional lamp. Nitin Kunkaliekar welcomed the gathering while Jagat Shah briefed about the event. Rajkumar Kamat highlighted the objectives of the global expo and summit while Manoj Caculo addressed the gathering. Delegates of Quatar, USA, Oman also spoke on the occasion.

A message sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also read on the occasion. The Chief Minister then released ‘Investor Booklet’, felicitated foreign delegates and the team of Vibrant Goa Foundation and Global Network.

Various Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with delegates from countries such as Canada, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Nepal, Bhutan, France and Portugal. Siddhi Upadhye and Gervice Pereira compered while Manoj Patil proposed the vote of thanks.
