GNDU holds extension lecture on Faiz Ahmed Faiz

Fatehgarh Sahib, Feb 22 (UNI) The Department of English organised an extension lecture on Faiz Ahmed Faiz: A Poet of Love and Revolution by Dr Gurupdesh Singh, former Professor and Head, Department of English, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar.
In his talk, Dr Gurupdesh Singh foregrounded the multilayered language of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, which makes reading of his poems a very rich experience.
He threw light on the socio-political conditions which shaped Faizs mind, all of which is reflected in his poetry. Giving ample examples from his poems, he emphasised that despite his long incarceration and the Pakistani military regimes attempts to silence him, he remained optimistic and dreamed of a better world.
